Chelsea attempting to have football agent Saif Rubie’s legal claim resolved out of court
Chelsea Football Club is reportedly making an effort to resolve a legal claim brought against them by Saif Rubie, a football agent.
Rubie is claiming that Chelsea owes him millions of pounds in unpaid commissions for his role in the transfer of Romelu Lukaku from Everton to the London club in 2014, the alleged fee is said to be about £21 million.
Chelsea denies the claim, and the case is due to go to trial in the High Court in London next month. However, according to a report in The Telegraph, Chelsea is now seeking to have the case resolved out of court.
The report claims that Chelsea is concerned about the potential reputational damage that the case could cause, and they are also keen to avoid the costs of a lengthy trial.
Rubie is a well-known football agent who has represented a number of high-profile players, including Lukaku, Eden Hazard, and David Luiz. He is also the founder of the football agency Elite Sports Management.
If Chelsea is successful in having the case resolved out of court, it will be a significant victory for the club. However, it is not clear how much Chelsea will be willing to pay Rubie to settle the claim.
The case is also likely to have implications for other football agents who are seeking to recover unpaid commissions from clubs.
