Italy emerged victorious in the Euro 2020 final, defeating England in a nail-biting penalty shootout. After a tense 120 minutes of regulation and extra time that ended in a 1-1 draw, Italy prevailed 3-2 on penalties.
The match, held at Wembley Stadium in London, saw England take an early lead through Luke Shaw's goal in the second minute. However, Italy equalized in the 67th minute through Leonardo Bonucci's header.
As the match headed into extra time, both teams failed to find a winning goal. In the penalty shootout, Italy's Gianluigi Donnarumma saved two penalties from Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka, while Federico Bernardeschi scored the winning spot-kick.
Italy's victory marks their first major title since winning the FIFA World Cup in 2006. It is also their second European Championship triumph, having previously won in 1968.
