SEC Championship Game Erupts in On-Court Brawl, Leading to Player Ejections
Six Players Removed Late in Contentious Matchup
LSU's Janae Kent and Aalyah Del Rosario Among Those Ejected
In a stunning turn of events, the SEC championship game between South Carolina and LSU women's basketball teams was marred by an on-court fight late in the contest, resulting in the ejection of six players.
The incident, which occurred with just over a minute remaining on the clock, erupted after South Carolina's Kamilla Cardoso attempted to block a shot by LSU's Janae Kent. Cardoso made contact with Kent's face, sparking a melee that involved several players from both teams.
Referees quickly intervened, ejecting Kent, Del Rosario, Cardoso, Tessa Johnson, and two other players. The incident cast a shadow over what had been a highly competitive game, with South Carolina ultimately claiming a narrow victory.
The SEC is expected to review the incident and announce any disciplinary actions. The brawl represents a disappointing end to what was otherwise a successful season for both teams.
